You can talk Cher, Bette, Diane, Sandra, Julia, Shirley, Bette, Joan, or any of the greats. But none would ever come close to Meryl. My partner says she’s one of the last few remaining “method” actresses which he explains it by saying she actually lives the life of her characters as she’s doing each project. Simply elegant and so professional is mastering her craft.

She is by far one of if not the most talented person on earth. Is there anything she can’t do. When God was giving out talent she received more than any one person deserves. She never disapoints. I hope she never retires.

We can all agree that this woman is unparalleled as an actress, right? (I think only Katherine Hepburn and Bette Davis are in the same category.) But when I saw this movie for the first time, I was stunned at how well she could sing. And she doesn’t just “sing” this song, she freakin’ nails it.

@auntypaulinko I can see a movie again a few times, but not over 100 times. No offense intended, but what would be the point? As they say, to each his own.

I used to dislike Meryl Streep, until I saw her doing Carrie Fisher in the fine movie- and this superior singing performance! She´s no professional singer, but she´s producing a great show. And it does not feel like acting, either – she´s enjoying every little part of it. Other singers may have sung the song better, but Meryl sure has earned the prize! Wow!

meryl might be a good actress, but reba is the queen of country, so needless to say her performance is far superior to this one. not trying to hate on meryl streep, just stating the obvious. if you like this you’ll love reba’s version, with her passionate performance and beautiful voice.

  20. Shortymint00ms

  23. papadoc41

Meryl Streep is one of a very select few in this world that should have a one word resume!!
That word is GRAVITAS no more to be said

Benny and Bjorn are the people to be adored for composing such amazing beautiful songs …. Singers are secondary and many singers can sing the songs well ….

  28. berrybluerainbowz123

i’d go lesbo for her :)

  29. darkpaw1964

i agree this version is alot more emotional than the abba version, it’s beautiful.

  33. pidgeotto2

    she is the best….!!!
    I love you…

  34. TheForestMan1977

touching. She still kreeps me out from her character in “the manchurian candidate” but I like her. This song reminds me of when I was a kid. Something about abba and my time in sweden… kind of miss it but not really either… weird feeling.

çok güzel bir aktrist bir o kadar da güzel bir kadın

  36. radmac76

The Devil not only wears Prada, but can also sing so wellt. Ms. Meryl Streep is so fuckin’ talented.

  37. HPfan71

    I LUFF HER

  38. caritas83

I really do not care if she had a good technique or if she should be considered as someone with a great voice at her age. If they wanted they could find a great singer with great voice and technique but they decided to go with Meryl Streep because no one can bring so much emotions to a song. I can not think anyone else who could bring so much emotions and still be so natural in a musical. I can’t say she is the best singer but she is the best actress (including musical acting)

  39. mochaman15

@Greenberri16 That is not an “operatic” voice in Secret Service. I do agree that she is a brilliant actress and I don’t think she could have made it as a singer. She’s not bad, but her acting is infinitely better than her singing.
