Film Review: Good Night, and Good Luck
Very good Night, AND Great LUCK is George Clooney’s second homerun at the bat as director following the equally controversial CONFESSIONS OF A Dangerous Thoughts. And like that prior movie, this film is held collectively by the superb functionality by its lead actor David Strathaurn (as Edward R. Murrow) and his immense ensemble cast which includes Robert Downey, Jr, Patrician Clarkson, Jeff Daniels, Ray Smart, Frank Langella, and Clooney himself as Murrow’s appropriate hand gentleman Fred Pleasant.

Using actual archival footage juxtaposed within the movie Clooney crafts an uncompromising portrait of Tv gentleman Murrow’s ongoing persecution of Senator Joseph McCarthy who persecuted good men and women by claiming they had been Communist for the duration of the early ‘50s. The film also portrays how significantly the network and television globe bended the principles in purchase to forgo any poor press for on their own or their sponsors sacrificing any and everyone that obtained in their way.
The movie not only displays the fall of a radical Senator but the decline in the integrity of the television studios as effectively. In opposition to insurmountable odds Murrow and his crew fought tough and with every action forward they took they were compelled back a handful of steps but they never grew to become discouraged and even by the finish of the film maintain fighting the excellent fight.
